Another welcome gift from an ever welcome friend.
Month: June 2022
Book 5 of 2022
One of the best gifts to myself this year has been reading this classic for the first time, then listening to Buckles and friends talk about it for an hour or so the next day. I feel like the process of doing both, the reading while doing not much else over a couple of days of camping. Then taking the time during a busy morning to listen to it being picked apart in some ways and some of the little sparks of thought that had popped through my brain be chewed at a little bit was calming and refreshing.
We all know it’s the little things. But this really made me feel renewed in a few ways that I didn’t know I needed.
I appreciate the time and space I feel even when we’re together sometimes. I quite like that the quiet times aren’t accompanied by a feeling that they should be filled.
Am I old and boring? 🤷‍♀️ oh well.
Book 4 of 2022
Someone (Alex Preston) in the guardian said “Smith’s series has become a central part of my cultural life, one of the tools with which I attempt to read the moment, both a framing device and a lesson in defence against the dark arts.” đź‘Ś
I feel like I need to read them all again.
